I am passionate about supporting street and brain injured children, both locally and overseas. It's so important to give kids a chance to express themselves, even if it's not what we understand as adults. I feel deeply that it's essential to make books available for every child.
It may sound hard to believe, but some children have never opened a book in their lives!
My goal when I visit schools and hospitals is to share the message that, 'you are loved just the way you are'. That message is for all children, not just the ones I am privileged to meet up and down the country.
Street children internationally have equal value and that is why I commit a percentage of each picture book sold to amazing charities which are engaged in supporting, helping, caring for and rescuing children; U2Uworld, Addenbrookes ICU Cambridge, Burn India 24/7.
As part of my role as an author I visit hospitals, to read to the children, and give away books. I volunteer whenever I can.
